Slip On Flanges / SORF Flanges

Shiv Shakti Forge is the manufacturer, supplier, and exporter of stainless steel flanges, Inconel flanges, Hastelloy flanges, and Monel flanges. Orifice flanges are used with orifice meters to measure the flow rate of either liquids or gases in the respective pipeline. They are, for all intents and purposes, the same as weld neck and slip-on flanges with extra machining. Orifice flanges may be provided in one of three types of flanges: welding neck, slip-on, and threaded.

Slip-On Flanges (SORF Flanges) – Carbon Steel / Mild Steel (MS) Range

Slip-On Flanges (SORF Flanges) are among the most widely used and cost-effective flange types in piping systems, especially in Carbon Steel and Mild Steel (MS) applications. These flanges are designed to easily “slip over” the pipe, making installation simple and efficient.

Key Characteristics & Design

Our Carbon Steel and Mild Steel Slip-On Flanges feature a bore (inner diameter) slightly larger than the pipe’s outer diameter, allowing easy positioning before welding. This design ensures flexibility during installation and alignment.

Connection Method

These flanges are secured using dual fillet welds—one at the outer hub and one at the inner pipe end—providing strong, leak-resistant joints suitable for low to medium pressure applications.

Face Types (SORF)

The most common configuration is the Slip-On Raised Face (SORF) flange, which provides an effective gasket seating surface for enhanced sealing.
Other available face types include:

  • Flat Face (FF)
  • Ring Type Joint (RTJ)
Standards & Pressure Ratings

Our Carbon Steel / MS Slip-On Flanges are manufactured in compliance with international standards such as:

  • ASME B16.5 (up to NPS 24)
  • ASME B16.47 (for larger sizes)

They are typically available in pressure classes such as Class 150, 300, and 600, suitable for a wide range of industrial applications.

Advantages of Carbon Steel / MS Slip-On Flanges
  • Easy Installation: Simple alignment due to slip-on design
  • Cost-Effective: Lower manufacturing and installation costs
  • Flexible Fitment: Less stringent pipe cutting requirements
  • Compact Design: Shorter hub length saves space
  • Reliable Strength: Dual welding ensures durability and leak resistance

Common Applications

Our Carbon Steel and Mild Steel Slip-On Flanges are widely used in:

  • Low-Pressure Fluid Systems: Water lines, cooling systems, firefighting pipelines
  • Chemical & Petrochemical Industries: Moderate service conditions
  • HVAC Systems: Heating, ventilation, and air conditioning pipelines
  • General Engineering Projects: Cost-effective piping solutions
